The Clock Lies

Jacket- vintage
shirt and socks- no name
pants- Old Navy
Boots- Aquatalia

I just realized that the title of this post does not make any sense, seeing as the clock that was in this shoot got cropped out, whoops.

So what's black and white all over?
Me, of course.
Black, dark circles under my eyes (All thanks to the Cocoa Boot and I v-chatting the whole night) and wearing white for another seven days. Is it possible to drown in one color? My mother told me to throw in the towel, to just tell you guys that I tried, but it didn't work. But I refuse to have anyone tell me that I don't have "follow-through" (Alright, so maybe I don't, but I have more persistence than a dog with a bone).

Don't let anyone tell one you can't do anything. They're just jealous.

The Best Question

The Dilemma: How do I look like a rock star for Turnabout?

The solution: There's a few easy steps to looking fabulous for any occasion:
1. Find a dress you feel unbelievable in. Yes, that vintage Marc Jacobs is gorgeous, but it's two sizes too small and 30 minutes into the night you'll feel like a beached whale. Your dress should fit you like a glove. Not necessarily tight, but there should be no gaps when you dance. Try wiggling around in the fitting room, your dress should move with you. At no point should your cleave, thighs, or thong wave hello. Remember that there are pre-party photos and your mother does not want to display the x-rated negatives on her desk.

2. The shoes really make the (wo)man. Don't let anyone talk you into "sensible" heels. Yes, you should be able to walk in them, but chances are you'll be taking them off anyway, so why not enjoy them while their on? Pick a pair that you could wear at a later date, but would prefer to have on your feet now.
Heel height is tricky, though. The higher the heel, the slimmer your butt and thighs look. But the more prone you are to falling. Stay between 1.5"-3" if you're not gifted with the grace of a ballerina. If you have a shorter torso, avoid shoes with heavy ankle straps, they cut off your leg and make you look shorter.
The Cocoa Boot says: If your date happens to be shorter, feel free to wear flats or a slight wedge. Because some of us are Amazons and must not make our men feel inferior (No. I am not jealous.)

3. Skip the jewelry. Because it's real cute when your date pulls out your giant hoop earrings and causes you to bleed profusely. Pick a dress that has some sparkle, instead.

4. Leave yourself time to get ready. You'll enjoy every part of the night more if you feel you did everything you wanted to before leaving the house.

5. Never underestimate the power of the smokey eye. Every rock star keeps this look in her arsenal for three reasons. Sex appeal, sex appeal, sex appeal. The smokey eye gives you a air of mystery, seductive, unattainable and gorgeous.

Shirt- City lights
vest-unknown
Nightgown worn as skirt

I hit the alarm. Again. And again. I am a cliche of typical teenage experience, unable to drag myself out of bed.

But I'm glad I do.

Throw Your Hair in the Air

This was my absolute favorite photo shoot, but my computer refuses to work. So unfortunately you'll have to deal with these. I'm sorry!

Everyday the Clouds Should Be Like Snow

Shirt- Forever 21
Pants- Old Navy
Boots- Steve Madden

Some people say Gucci, Fendi, Prada.

I say Ninja Turtles, Sailor Moon, and Stratego.
Love to the under appreciated.

Socks & Boots- Steve Madden

Everything in fashion is recycled. From the patterns, trends, and now with the green movement, even the clothes themselves.

So sue me for wanting something new and exciting. While the runways show mixed prints (done), military-inspired clothing (so done), and rocker-chic (done and done) the Cocoa Boot and I decided to do something different. White.

Yes, you've probably seen the sheer white and baby pinks that strutted its way down the catwalk. Classy, sexy, business-like, and dare I say it, boring. White is a color constantly associated with weddings, pureness and innocence. We decided to take it to the next level.

14 days. Nothing but white.

The conditions:
1) Shoes can be different colors (Not all of us can afford to buy new shoes every week, Jane)
2) No water, food, or messy people near the clothes
3) If bras show through, suck it up
4) If any outfit deems to disobey the rules by you (our wonderful readers!), I will create a new white outfit to replace it.

This was my first day of the white challenge. Though I cheated with the knee socks, I thought that going for a "pop of color" with a neutral was innovative.

What do you think?

Stalagmite

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,

And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,

And there the moon-bird rests from his flight

To cool in the peppermint wind.

Be prepared. Spring's new challenge is on its way...

Tress Dress: Loosen it up

Japanese Vogue
Alexander Wang: Spring/Summer 2010
Alexander Wang

Wrapped around your head, cornrows, Heidi/cowgirl style, French--the braid is classic. But one style that is rarely seen, even avoided? the loose, single braid. And it's in for 2010. For sexy and messy, Alexander Wang shows us how it's done, while Japanese Vogue gives a cleaner, more sophisticated version. If you want to be "in" this spring, start with your head, and we'll work the way down later this week ;) Though we didn't get our snow day, PB and I weren't gonna let finals stop us from doing a shoot for one of Spring's hottest trends...

Round and Round We Go

Philidelphia--outside Macys with my aunt, uncle, cousins and family :) (they took us there to see this awesome light show in the middle of the store! Julie Andrews was the narrator and told a bunch of Christmas stories, and there was also lights timed to music--loved it!)

Pray for a snow day so PB and I can have a Snowtoshoot! (snow photo shoot :))...and, study. for finals...

Circles!: According to my friend, it's a Philipeno tradition to style yourself with cirlces during the month of January to ensure a good year. Lucky for glitz-loving divas, sequins totally count! If you want this year to be the best one yet, rock this superstition dressed up or dressed down, day or night (though I think we can all agree that sequins at night look way cooler!). Either way, if you want to sport sequins when it's not new years eve, and want to avoid looking like a disco ball, save the all out for the party and make a more modest show by hiding some of that sparkle with a simple skirt or top. You should also know that even when dressed down, the glam is still an attention grabber, (usually a desirable factor ;)) and must be worn with confidence! Be shiny, be noticed, and build up luck for the new year!
