HAPPY NEW YEAR!

My new 70's caftan
A gift from my mother; it goes perfectly with the dress!
Sparkle-icious by OPI
It's 11:24 and I, Sarah Schuette, am spending my new year with my cousins and little sister. I was originally going to a concert, but it was sadly cancelled so I decided to put on my new Africa dress and enjoy a night in before our party tomorrow. Sorry the lighting's not very good, I used my sisters' camera since my electronics have been running away from me this week; phone, camera, the list goes on. New year's resolution? Find them!

Rest In Peace Maggie

Hello lovely readers. I was going to do a post today, and I will do so later, but right now, I just wanted to say how sorry I am to my friend's family, who lost their beautiful little girl, Maggie, to a heart condition. She was 5, and she passed away on Christmas. If you don't mind, please try to take a moment out of your day to count your blessings and tell someone you love them, because you never know when it will be the last time. Sorry to make this dark post. I promise something more cheerful is on the way.

See you next year

Just a few photos of my adventures in New York before I leave for Mexico! I know, it's hard jet-setting around the world, but someone has to do it.
If you get the chance to hit up the Lower East Side in NYC, do it. I cannot wait to be back on Ludlow and Broome, eating at Katz's Deli (pictured), wandering around Assembly (pictured. I love the way the clothes are strewn around the room, as if it was your own closet) and trying on clothes at TG-170 (more on that later). But the best part of New York is coming around the holidays, there is just so much cheer and spirit you would swear that it's the North Pole.
But almost better was Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson. I cannot even begin to describe how magical and incredible it was. The photo above does not do it justice. A completely new theater experience. Below it you can see my fangirl photo with the lead, Benjamin Walker. Yes, that enourmosly dorky grin hurt.
Merry Christmas! I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and a happy New Year! See you in 2011!

Adios Amigos!

For most Trevians, winter break begins after today, but for me, it starts at 3 in the morning, riding to an airport where a plane waits to take me and my family to Cancun! Myan ruins, the ocean, horseback riding, WARMTH! (just saying, I absolutely LOVE Winter, but the temperatures here in Chicago have been frrrreeeezzzziiiinnnggg) Now that Dance Day (our schools' annual major dance show which we both participated in) is over, and (most) of my papers are completed, I can get excited for some major fun in the sun. Happy holidays everyone <3

Fashion techie

So, as you may or may not know, I'm fairly very tech-savvy, but when it comes to Apple products, I'm lost (even though I'm actually typing on one now). Thus I don't know if you've all heard, but apparently you can now download Vogue issues to your iPad. The above is the 1st one, UK's December issue, and I'm still conflicted about whether or not I like that or not... I mean, 1/3 of the reason I buy Vogue magazines is because I love the feel of the pages, the free perfume samples, and (only if it's exquisite since I hate to tear up my things) being able to cut out my favorite images to put into scrapbooks, collages, etc. ON the other hand, I think it's great that Vogue is attempting to be more Green and waste less paper, and now I might be able to convince more people to indulge in this splendid magazine. What do you think about being uber technologically advanced?

Corsi

Every single outfit in this video is perfection. J'ador the sequined jumpsuit and the long a-line circle skirt with lace bra. Note to self: Go to a holiday party and suddenly transform into Leighten Meester. At least this way I can walk around in a bra and not get strange looks. Oh wait, that's never stopped me...
Happy Holidays!

Paris Vs. New York

While browsing Topshop's wonderfully chic blog,
Insideout I came across a post about Vahram Muratvan, who had created pictures that compare New York City to Paris. I loved it, so of course I had to share!

So, what's your favorite?

Forever Young

If perfection had a lookbook account, you'd be staring at it. There is nothing better than these swingy skirts and men shirts. I mean, lets start with the fit. These are clothes made to be worn and enjoyed! The clothes skim the body, hinting at curves and showcasing almost every woman's best feature, her legs. Yet they're not tight enough or short enough to cause concerned grandmothers to ask you if you forgot your pants (yes, this has happened before). Not to mention, the bright effervescent color! Forget Adderall, these are all you need to keep awake during those dreary winter days. But my favorite part has to be the easiness. None of these pieces match, none of them have a hundred layers. They are playful and young, something that clothes have forgotten these days. Sure, you can be sophisticated and look ten years older, but I fully enjoy being seventeen and intend to have my fun with it. Thank you Jonathan Saunders for a collection that is just plain (though there is nothing plain about it) glorious.

Winter/Spring Wedding Wearables

Alrighties, so one of you fabulous readers asked what to wear to a winter/spring wedding out East. After a visit to my grandpa (who unfortunately has no internet) and other relatives, and 14 hours in the car (there and back) which meant lots of brainstorming, I give you my personal favorite wedding guest dresses :)
P.S. Remember that if you do not choose to go longsleeved, and you think you're going to get cold, a cardigan is definitely a stylish and practical option!
Personally, I adore this dress. It's conservative, elegant and not overdone. It flatters all shapes and sizes, and it also comes in a dark navy/black color.
$48 "Soprano Sweetheart Illusion Bodice Dress" shop.nordstrom.com
The black patterning gives this dress a sassy but demure twist. The winter color meets spring florals, and voila! Say hello to the perfect piece.
$148 "Maggy London Beaded Metallic Brocade Sheath Dress" shop.nordstrom.com
This warm green option is a good choice if you want something more mature.
$244.99 "Fresh Cut Dress" www.modcloth.com
This simple but lovely dress is navy velvet. Soft and sophisticated, the "touch me" fabric is perfect for early spring; not too much, but not to light
$68 "Velvet Sweetheart Strapless" www.thelimited.com
If it's still going to be chilly, a long-sleeved dress like this Max Azria number would be a good choice. Not fancy enough? Look for one with either a pattern or a more structured cut
$278 "Max Azria Draped Knit Dress" www.BCBG.com
The color of royalty, this piece has more detail and is thus more daring, but it keeps an appropriate aura by having a classy and conservative neckline
$$? indie cult vintage (ebay only)

I hope these dresses can provide you with some inspiration or maybe even be the one! Happy hunting, CB.

Big Cat

My new 80's vintage sequin tiger sweater! I am in love with this
Paired with Marc Jacobs jeggings, and my Matisse boots
Mohan And Majestic; two of Siegfried and Roy's newest cubs!
close up
One of my favorite tigers, Waffles; I got him from my old friend who moved to Arizona when we were in 2nd grade :)
I love how even though the focus is the big tiger, it's got leopard spots all over it too!
2 of my all-time favorite people in the world; Siegfried and Roy. If you don't know who these fantastic guys are, check em out on youtube or google them--they're my idols
Roy, Siegfried, and one of their white lions.

Something to think about: there are approximately 2,500 tigers left in the wild today. Please help spread the word that these gorgeous cats need to be protected. Thanks, CB.
