Old School Glamour

Trekking with my family through the rainy streets of downtown Chicago, I catch just a glimmer of glamour. The drenched carvings on the side of the Wrigley building, the amazing amount of fedoras that seem to appear at any sign of precipitation, and just the energy of the city itself. Unlike New York, Chicago is a lazy kind of city. It sits back with a cigarette on fire-engine red painted lips and smirks at all those who don't have time for a drag.

Flappers. They were the new women, promiscuous, headstrong, sexy. Maybe it was their pioneering personalities and mentalities their fashion so indelible? Or maybe it's the fact that no girl can resist exquisite beading? Or maybe it is that it's a style that doesn't call for a formfitting silhouette. Whatever case maybe the clothing from the roaring twenties will never go out of style. It's also being reinvented, like the new Chanel adaptations that honor their parent or the new (ish) Chicago movie with Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Whether you like jazz music, speak-easies, or just have a thing for sparkles, flapper dresses are just simply the best.
