Introducing our new art director and photographer!

On our left we have C, a spunky Londoner who loves fashion almost as much as me. With an eye for juxtaposition C can mix a pair of cropped motorcycle booties and a flimsy dress to look like a super model.

To the right is R, the best photographer in the Midwest. Having actually taken photography classes, she is far superior to myself and my mother. R can take an ordinary point and shoot camera and create pieces of art.

DIY Scarf Top:

This top is easy and perfect for adding texture underneath a blazer, going out to a party, or looking like a cowgirl (all depending on what kind of scarf you use).

*I took a scarf with texture and color to brighten up a very monotone outfit. For a party, use a neon scarf, preferably with no fringe to create a handkerchief top. Metallics also create a festive air. Please refrain from using a bandanna; no one wants to see that much of you, or think you came from the Wild, Wild West.

*This look could not be simpler, take two edges of the top, folding it so that you create a large triangle. Take those ends and tie them in a tight knot behind your back. Voila!

Torn in Teal

Continuing the fall transition, the new color of choice is green-warm and earthy, green is making its way through celebrities and runways to us; to our clothes, to our nails, to our jewelry and even homes, green is the way to go. Not to mention its the universal color for the environment! So when you plan out your winter wardrobe, go green by adding hints of it to your outfits with nail polish, or going all out with green jackets, sweatshirts, and-if you find the right pair-pants!
I also haveee to comment on the reason I even bought this shirt--the back! The Purple Boot and I often discuss our love for detailed backs, (she gives a much better explanation for this love than I do) and I loved the simple T look of the front that prevents distraction from the viewer, keeping the focus on the ripped, artsy slits.

What to Wear: A Basic Guide to Winter Coats

Everyone knows it’s coming; the leaves are changing color; the air has a distinct chill. With the fast approaching winter, it’s that special time. Yes, it is time for a wardrobe update. That does not mean wearing Uggs with your short-shorts, but putting on a substantial coat. So without any mother-approved smothering fashion catastrophes, here is your guide to purchasing the best jacket for your body.

The Peacoat: This jacket is normally made of thick wool and double-breasted. Recently there has been an influx of new colors and shoulders for the peacoat, giving it a more modern edge, but it is a traditional coat with a preppy feel. It is perfect for girls who are slightly thicker in the middle; the belt around the waist makes your middle look tiny. The Peacoat is also very flattering for petite girls. The jacket ends at the hips, making the legs look longer compared to your torso.

The Puffer: Everyone has been wearing this jacket since fifth grade, but thanks to Juicy Couture and Tommy Hilfiger, the coat has gotten a major upgrade. New colors like graphite (a non-ostentatious silver) and wheat (pale gold) are more flattering and match almost every outfit and complexion. The actual amount of quilting has been decreased in the jackets as well, so the fit is more streamlined. Athletic girls should pick up a Puffer, for even though it doesn’t necessarily accentuate any particular body part of a sporty girl, they are the only ones who can pull them off. The Puffer jacket fits to their frame, not adding girth or distracting from the curves that they have.

The Trench: Though the Trench is not a typical winter jacket, don’t tell that to Ralph Lauren. His new winter trench coat is made of a black nylon, common to outerwear, but foreign to the typically khaki trench. It is a very trendy jacket that can unfortunately only be worn by girls 5’8 or taller. The hem ends at about mid-calf, which elongates the legs of girls who already have them up to their knees and cuts off the proportions of a more vertically challenged girl. Preferably, you should have the stature of a model to pull of this coat.

MAE WEST. An actress known as the "sex goddess" of her time (sorry Miss Monroe) Mae West is also one of the most underrated fashion icons of the 30's and 40's, bringing sexy and elegant together to make some unforgettable classic red carpet looks.


Going along with her title, Mae has plenty dirty flirty quotes like: "Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"...



and "So many men...so little time"...



and my personal favorite, "I generally avoid temptation unless I can't resist it"
